The Halal Standard Institute of Thailand (HSIT) of the Central Islamic Committee of Thailand (CICT) coordinated with the Office of Tourism Development (OTD) of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTS) to hold the seminar “Developing Halal Food Service for Tourism” to make operators aware of policies of supporting halal food service of the MOTS and correct directions according to halal service principle to ask for evaluation and guarantee according to halal food service standard. The seminar was held twice.
The first one was held on May 19, 2009 at Hatyai Paradise Hotel and Resort in Songkhla and adjoining provinces such as Satun, Phatthalung, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat where Deputy director of the Southern Border Province Administration Center (SBPAC) Pairoj Rattanapirom was president and special lecturer.
The second was held on May 26, 2009 at Korbua Restaurant in Krabi and adjoining provinces such as Phuket, Phangnga, Ranong, and Nakhon Si Thammarat where director of the OTD was president and special lecturer.
Representative of the CICT Preecha Anurak, representatives of provincial committees, representative of the OTD, representatives of the Thai Restaurant Association etc. came to provide knowledge to interested persons. Seminar participators included staffs of hotel, restaurants, hospitals, industrial factories, public organizations, students, and other interested persons.
