These days a unique event is being held in Kazan that can confidently be called a historical event. The 1st International Congress in Russia was held. Through the efforts of the organizers, guests from various countries arrived to the capital of Tatarstan to discuss issues related to the Halal certification. The event came about 20 guests, among which are the heads of certifying organizations from Turkey, the Netherlands, Austria, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Japan and Pakistan.This event brought together about 20 experts on Halal certification and standardization from around the world, particularly from Turkey, the Netherlands, Austria, Brazil, Australia, South Africa, Morocco, Japan and Pakistan. The experts came with the aim to share their experience on Halal Industry and to discuss the challenges of the halal industry they face in their countries.
After two days of the Congress, it culminated with the Decision signing by the key certification bodies. Following decisions were made:
— to organize a working group for unification of certificate development and implementation among the participants;
— to support the Halal Center in carrying out its work;
— to hold the Congress in a participant’s country each year where possible;
— to render mutual information and support to each other.
It should be noted that major international organizations which have vast experience on Halal Certification gathered in Kazan. Thus, the Halal certification body in South Africa was founded in 1945. And countries such as Australia and Brazil are major exporters of Halal products. They willingly shared their experiences on exports to the Arab, Muslim and South-Eastern countries. The next Congress is to be held in Brazil.
The Congress was attended by the experts of SMIIC – the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries. SMIIC is responsible for implementing standards for Islamic countries.
